I agree with you on Danny, the writing of him with the Doctor felt very heavy-handed, I felt like his relationship with Clara came across as a bit forced too. It felt to me like they had an idea of what they wanted for the character in that he would dislike the Doctor and be an obstacle for the Doctor and Clara, but then forced the writing a bit to fit with those initial ideas
