I definitely agree with you on ff.net. AO3 is so much easier to use, both to post and fin fics.
When it comes to fanfic, I write it for my own pleasure and entertainment. The fandoms and ships I like and write for are not always the popular ones.
So do I- if I only wrote for attention I would choose fandoms with a large audience. I write what I want to write. :) But on occasion, I feel a little lonely.
They are challenges, both multi-fandom and geared towards small and small/medium fandoms.
