Black day

I don’t know how much this is covered outside Sweden, but today a young man went inside a school in Sweden and attacked people, at least two adults and two teenagers. Two of these, one adult, one child, are now dead. The man itself was killed by the police. There is already lots of evidence that points to this being an attack motivated by racism. At least one of the victims were of African descent and the murderer was Swedish.

It’s terrible, terrible news. Having a child the same age as the killed and wounded children makes this very easy for me to imagine the agony their families must be in right now. And I’m so angry that after this, people have the stomach to excuse the murder of children and blame immigrants and refugees for this.

What happened today was nothing to what happened in Norway in 2011, but everything points to the same kind of perpetrator. And they are terrorist and what they have done are acts of terrorism. I’m so appalled with people who can find it in themselves to excuse this. Sweden have fascist party in the parliament and they have worked hard to get their disgusting views seen as politically correct. They have recently whipped up a lot of hatred against the war refugees coming to Sweden and in the last week three housings for refugees have burned. No one had died- yet. And now this. This is what hatred do. How can anyone want that?

I am so sorry that the same kind of violence we see here almost daily has made its way there. It's horrible and senseless and evil. My heart goes out to all the victims and their loved ones.

Yes, it do seem to happen everywhere. It's really hard to get hold of guns in Sweden, so he only had knifes. Otherwise we would probably have had a complete blood bath. :(

We'll never get rid of the guns in America and these massacres will just keep happening here. Because every time one of them happens in the USA, the gun nuts say that the answer is for there to be more guns and for there to be fewer restrictions on who can have them. And the gun nuts spend lots of money buying politicians. I hope nothing like that ever happens in Sweden.

I don't think guns will ever be common in Sweden. To own a gun or a similar weapon you must be either a registred hunter or belong to a shooting club. Neither are that big in here, though of course more people hunt in the countryside. I get the feeling that owning a weapon is seen as something of a fundamental right in USA? As a concept, I would say it's basically unknown here.

The Second Amendment to our Constitution reads: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

No one here remembers the part about the militia. All they talk about is the part about the guns.

It's getting crazier and crazier here. A woman carrying a gun in her purse just accidentally shot someone in the hip in a doctor's office. Another woman was killed awhile back here in Idaho when she allowed her child to rummage in her purse... which contained a concealed handgun with the safety off. Her child accidentally shot her. Now he has to live with that for the rest of his life.

How horrible! Poor Little Child!

[identity profile] verdande-mi.livejournal.com 2015-10-22 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It is horrible, nothing but horrible and sad. And it scares me, this never ending circle with facists ideals and the fact that we never seem to learn.

It is indeed terrorism and should be called as such and not tried to be made less!

[identity profile] scripsi.livejournal.com 2015-10-23 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, what terrifies me the most is that people won't learn from this. I hope they will, but I don't have much hope.

That is awful. This seems to be everywhere now.

[identity profile] scripsi.livejournal.com 2015-10-23 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, everywhere you look, it seems.

Gods, this is terrible!! What is happening in our world?! We gain awareness, realize what isn't acceptable - and someone always has to go be be utterly, terribly HATEFUL and excuses are made and nothing is solved. This should never have happened! My gods...

The news made it over here. There is no excuse for such violence:(

[identity profile] scripsi.livejournal.com 2015-10-23 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
No, none whatsoever. :(

It seems like shootings are happening everywhere and more frequently these days, scary world we're living in. :(

[identity profile] scripsi.livejournal.com 2015-10-23 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly feel that way! :(

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2015-10-24 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It was covered here. How scary.
I think it could have happened anywhere though, not just Sweden. All of Europe seems to the swinging to the hard right. And of course you'll always get people who are just plain unhinged.
*hugs*

Oh, absolutely! Which makes it even more scary, of course. Basically things like this don't happen in Sweden, period. The last actual terrorist attack was back in 1941.

It frightens me that this is a trend all over Europe and I have an awful feeling that it will have to get worse before it gets better.

Oh god, I'm so sorry, dear ♥ This is just such a terrible tragedy… and the idea that some people find any way to condone such acts just makes me sick.

*hugs you*

Thank you! Yes, it's so horrible! *hugs*
