(ok I think that's two)No, university is free. You have to pay for your living expenses, and books, but the education in itself is free. But there are private schools where you have to pay to go, too, like fashion design. You are still eligible for student loans and other student benefits if you do, though.
As for the questions of most popular careers- I have no idea. But I know there is a huge need of teachers and nurses.
