Give me numbers, as many as you want!
1) How old were you when you first starting writing fan fiction?
33. Until then I had made up fanfic in my head since I was eight, but never wrote more than the occasional overview.
2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one?
3) Do you prefer writing OCs or reader inserts? Explain your answer.
4) What is your favourite genre to write for?
5) If you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why?
6) If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?
7) When is your preferred time to write?
8) Where do you take your inspiration from?
9) In your (pick a fic of mine), what’s your favourite scene that you wrote? Or, what is your all time favourite scene you’ve ever written?
10) In your (pick a fic of mine), why did you decide to end it like that? Did you have an alternative ending in mind?
11) Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it?
I have corrected words- as I’m not a native speaker of English I have on occasion put in a word that has been wildly wrong. Not when it comes to the actual content. Either I don’t agree with the criticism, or it’s a story I don’t care enough about to change, even if I can agree with the comment.
12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?
13) Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why?
14) How did you come up with the title for (pick a fic of mine)? Or, how do you come up with titles?
15) If you write OCs, how do you decide on their names?
16) How did you come up with the idea for (pick a fic of mine)?
Then I choose Nothing Interesting Ever Happens in Perivale. The idea came in two parts. First, because it has always annoyed me you never get an explanation of how the Master stops being a Cheetah, and I wondered who would help him. I thought he would definitely go to the Doctor, and he would go to Three, who is the Doctor he was always friendliest with, and who had a scientific mind. And the other part came from my longtime wish that Sarah Jane should have met the Master, as I think she would have been pretty good at wrangling him.
17) Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.
From a The Mummy-fic:
Silenced, Evy could still think. Mr. Smith may be rich, and clearly power-hungry, but he was a dilettante. Did he think Imhotep was some kind of pet?
18) Do you have any abandoned WIPs? What made you abandon them?
19) Are there any stories that you’ve written that you’d really love to do a sequel to?
20) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?
21) Tell me about your current favourite canon, what attracted you to it? What will make you abandon it?
Hmm, a canon I write in must be considered a favourite as I write in them. I can say for certain that all my fandoms are either historical, or fantastical, or both. I also like canons with competent females and complex and often suave villains. But I never know for certain why one canon pull me into writing, while others don’t. Like Sense8 which have it all, and which I love, but never felt any urge to write for. My newest fav is iAll About Eve. I rewatched the movie and for some reason, a fic idea started to buzz in my head. I don’t know why, really, but Addison DeWitt is a good example of my favourite kind of villain. As for abandoning canons- I rarely fall out of love with fandom, but sometimes I feel I don’t have anything more to say in it.
22) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?
23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?
24) How do you feel about writing smutty scenes?
25) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?
No, but I’ve cried over a comment (in a good way).
26) Which part of your (pick a fic of mine) was the hardest to write?
27) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow and pants your plots?
28) What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fan fiction?
29) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like?
Yes, one, a Doctor Who story called Professor Keller. One the whole I don’t expect much attention to my fics as I usually feel engaged in small fandoms, or, if they are larger, I find the obscure corner. And I completely get why this fic doesn’t get any attention; it’s an Old Who-fic, it focuses on the Master and not the Doctor, it contains original characters, and is a dark story with several trigger-potential tags. But it’s also a fic that haunted me and I spent a lot of time on it, even re-writing the whole thing. And I feel I did a good job on it, and still feel it’s one of best fics I’ve ever written. So it would be nice to know someone else liked it, even if I understand why it doesn’t draw in readers.
30) In contrast to #29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?
31) Send me a fic recommendation for one of your own stories
32) Are any of your characters based on real people?
33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?
I can’t specify a single comment, but the biggest kind of comment are those when a reader not only enjoy my writing but also tell me what it is they liked and it turns out they have really got what I wanted to say with the fic.
34) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?
35) Do you share your story ideas with anyone else or do you keep them close to your chest?
36) Can you give us a spoiler for one of your WIPs?
37) What’s the funniest story you’ve written?
38) Have you ever collaborated? Was it a good experience or a terrible one?
Once. We were a pretty large group who wrote the detective novel a fictitious author writes in a detective story. We had great fun!
39) Do you prefer first, second or third person?
Third person. It isn’t a conscious choice, but usually, I find it easier to write. On occasion, I write the first person, but never second.
40) Do people know you write fan fiction?
My husband and three friends know I do, but of these only my friend M has actually read anyting.
41) What’s you favourite minor character you’ve written?
42) What do you think about song fic? Have you ever written on? Why wouldn’t you?
43) Has anyone ever guessed the plot twist of one of your fics before you posted it?
No. If anything I have got the opposite where people say that they didn’t expect the plot twist. But perhaps they only try to be nice- I always feel my fics reach the only logical solution. :D
44) What is the last line you wrote?
45) What spurs you on during the writing process?
Nothing in particular. I don’t listen to music, and I don’t wait for inspiration. Usually, I go through what I want to write in my heads several times before I write, so it’s more that I need a block of time and decides I am going to write and not something else.
46) I really loved your (pick a fic of mine) fic. If you were ever to do a sequel, what do you think might happen in it?
47) Here’s a fic title - insert a made up title. What would this story be about?
48) What’s your favourite trope to write?
This is probably closer to a theme than a trope, but my female protagonists are never saved by a hero. It can be a joint project, but usually not, and sometimes she saved the hero too. Or she isn’t saved at all. I do enjoy writing darkfic, but less so than I used to.
49) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about?
Very vividly! In 1999 I was a member of an email group dedicated to Dorothy L. Dayers. We were a talkative bunch, and eventually, we had to create a sub-group for all the unrelated things we liked to talk about. One of our members was writing a fanfic which she ran by us before posting it on ff.net. It was teh the first time I heard the term fanfic, and it was so well-written and interesting I for the longest time expected fanfiction to be good.
It was a Harry Potter-fic where the main character was a witch a few years older than Harry. She was blind and “saw” through the eyes of her owl. She falls in love with Snape, who, and this was long before it was revealed he was a double spy, turns out the be a double spy. I enjoyed it a lot, though now, 20 years later, I can’t recall the name of it anymore.
50) If you could write only angst, fluff or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?

This looks like fun; I think I'll put this ask meme up on my journal as well. ^^
