January talking meme

[profile] alec_towser asked: Star Trek or Star Wars?

I don’t have a close relation to any, but I like Star Wars the best. The original Star Trek wasn’t aired in Sweden when it came and I never seen it. I’ve seen the later version and mostly found it boring. But I do like the original Star Wars trilogy, even if I don’t have a strong attachment to it.

Well, my husband says he loves me depsite my not loving Asimov... :)

Funnily enough we saw Star Wars in school too and had a discussion on the same subjects.

I never saw Who until I was an adult either. Sweden, in general, has been very bad at airing SF. The only thing I can recall from my childhood was the 1930's Movie serial of Flasg Gordon... Which I did adore. And now I adore Who. So I can't say I dislike SF, more that I'm a bit selective. :D

My husband simply doesn't "get" Doctor Who. I've tried several times, and it's just too busy for him. Too many things happening, he can't keep track of the timelines, and he just gets so confused. All that, plus the accents and fast talking that he has a difficult time with. Even though English (OK, American English) is our native language, he sometimes can't understand what they are saying when they ramble on and on so fast. Of course, that could be because half of the time, the Doctor is actually talking nonsense!

He did, however, like "Day of the Doctor" because for some strange reason, he could follow the three timelines going on... He did like Star Wars (the original trilogy) and the original Star Trek series. Also wasn't much for the Star Trek series that followed. He did not like Isaac Asimov at all, especially the "Foundation" series... same thing with too many timelines and possibilities, I guess.

My husband like New Who, but not nearly as much as I, and simply refuses to watch the Classic, which he finds silly or boring or both. And though I'm not a huge SF fan, one of my favourite authors is Lois McMaster Bujold. Husband find her SF boring too... And yet, I still love him! :D
