Writing meme

1. Have you ever written in an unusual place? Where?
Not really. I prefer to write on my computer. But on my laptop in the garden of our summer cottage is probably the most unusual.
2. The word/phrase you know you overuse, but can't get rid of it.
That. I tend to put it in a lot without thinking of it. I always remove a lot of them when I edit, but usually I re-read something and realise I didn’t catch them all.
3. Do you keep notes? Do you have a notebook? What does it look like? Add a picture/screencap of your notes.
I put my notes in the document I write the fic on, which is Google Docs. If I get an idea for something that I have to write down NOW, I use any scrap of paper.
4. What's the hardest part of a fic to write for you? (angst/fluff/smut, exposure/plot twist/ending)
Endings are usually my weakest point. And describing surroundings and clothes.
5. Have you ever based something in your fic on your personal experience? What was it?
All the time. Chapter 8 in Professor Keller draws very much on a serious crisis my marriage went through a few years ago. Solace and All That You Love Will Be Lost are very much about grieving my niece. Luna’s reaction in All Within is basically my own from being bullied. And all my fics that contain abusive and/or non-con deals with my experiences of the same, on way or another.
6. What's that one fic you want to write but somehow know you never will?
Not really.
7. What do you usually do when you procrastinate?
Clean the house. Spend time on the Net. But I don’t procrastinate when I’m writing.
8. What's the funniest typo you've made?
No idea. Which means nothing springs to mind.
9. Do you listen to music when you write? What kind?
Not when I write, no- that’s far too distracting. But before I write I think a lot of what I’m going to write and I listen to music then. I often get stuck on something for a particular fic. Like The Beautiful South’s Prettiest Eyes for Crows Feet On the Prettiest Eyes, Deeper and Deeper by Dave Gahan for Burning and loads and loads of Elvis Costello for Professor Keller.
10. Your favorite comment a reader has left on your fic?
I’ve got so many wonderful comments, but one that especially sticks to mind is the one where the commenter said it was clear I spent a lot of time thinking of my character’s motivations and reactions, which is something I really do spend a lot of time doing.

I was a tiny bit surprised that you'd listen to music while planning but not while writing, because music usually helps me stay focused (generally, on stuff that takes a while to do) if it's repetitive and familiar enough. But the whole point of the questions, of course, is that people do things differently.

I prefer to write with music playing, but not if the music has talky parts in it.
I'm sure I've done this meme or one very similar. I may do it again!

Indeed- and i try to use it more than I do. :)
I wonder if people notice words we use a lot as much as we do?
Probably not...
Now when you say it I can listen to music if it's just music. Classical musik is no problem at all. :)

Good to read your answers.

I find google docs so practical! I used to have the hassle with USB sticks that I always forgot and ended up having scraps written here and there on several computers.
