AO3-meme
After all the excitement yesterday I mainly good around. I took the dogs for a long walk before it got too hot and now we are all (but two of the cats) relaxing on the patio. I have done some drawing and next I plan to finish a biography over the Princesses of Vasa, the daughters of Gustav I Vasa during the 16th century.
I’ll try to answer comments on my own LJ, but in general, commenting will be bad from me this week. However, i couldn’t resist this AO3-meme I see many of you are doing. I’m a sucker for fanfic memes.
What’s your first and second most common work ratings?
General Audiences (31)
Teen and Up Audiences (27)
I have a always had a feeling I mostly write smut, but that’s clearly not true. The Mature and Explicit fics number 21 together, though of course there are a number of explicit fics i don’t keep on AO3. But clearly the production over that last two years have much lower ratings.
How many fics have you written in each relationship category? Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
F/M (49)
Gen (22)
F/F (5)
M/M (3)
Multi (2)
Other (0)
Not an accident. If I write (or read) more explicit fics I prefer het. I like to be able to identify myself and I don’t do that with male characters. I enjoy M/M and F/F more like I enjoy Gen- as an explorations of a relationship, but without, or with very little, sex. I have written explicit slash in the past as gifts for friends, but it never really gelled for me
What are your top four fandoms by numbers? Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Doctor Who (31)
Peter Pan (16)
Penny Dreadful (4)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (4)
I’ve always been into several fandoms at once, even if I tend to focus on one at the time. Peter Pan was my first fandom, but I’m not active in it anymore. Same with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. When the movie came there was a fun and active LJ community which was inspiring, but I don’t think I’ll ever write in it again. Doctor Who and Penny Dreadful are still very much active.
What are your top two most used additional tags, and your bottom two? What would happen if you combined all of these into a fic?
Top two:
Humor (11)
Dark (8)
Bottom two:
Grief/mourning (2)
Dubious consent (2)
I don’t think they would all lend themselves for the same fic. The top ones in one and the bottoms in one, and perhaps some other constellation, but not all.
What are your top four character tags? Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
Captain Hook (16)
The Master (Delgado) (12)
River Song (9)
Wendy Darling (8)
No, not at all, this was pretty much what I expected. And if you consider the Master as just one character he would be on top.
For some reason the top four pairings wasn’t in the meme, so I added them.
The Master (Doctor Who)/River Song (7)
Wendy Darling/Captain Hook (7)
The Master (Delgado)/River Song (3)
Vanessa Ives/Sir Malcolm Murray (2)
It’s a bit of an overlap as I have tagged the fics about River Song and the Master both with Master and specific regeneration. Missy/River Song also have 2 fics, and so has Dracula/OFC. Again, no surprises.

I don't think I'd read much if I only read characters I identified with, but this is because I am dull & thus to be pitied, charming!

Perhaps I was a bit fuzzy- I don't need to feel I can identify myself in a character in general. Just when I read or write smut. :) On the whole I mostly read gen and/or a character who interests me. But i don't read slash for the kicks- I like the Master/Doctor, for example, but I very, very rarely go beyond Teen and up there. Not because I find same sex icky, mor ebecause it doesn't interest me much. And I'm not a Heavy shipper in general, so I'm usually happy with my favourite characters interacting, regardles of the way they do that. :)
