I did a stats post for AO3 recently and I felt something was missing. A multichapter with lots of hits often have the most kudos, but I wondered a little of which fic really had the most kudos compared with hits. So here is what my 10 top list looks like when I split hits with kudos.

1. Masquerade (Peter Pan, Captain Hook/Mrs. Darling) 1 kudo given for every 3rd hit.
2. A Dance (DW, words, The Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness) 1 kudo given for every 3,3rd hit.
3. Little Miss Sunbeam (DW, Delgado!Master, OFC) 1 kudo given for every 5,6th hit.
4. Captain Hook and the Mary Sue (Peter Pan, Captain Hook, OFC) 1 kudo given for every 5,6th hit.
5. All That You Love Will Be Lost (DW, The Ninth Doctor, Nyssa of Traken) 1 kudo given for every 5,7th hit.
6. Rain (Peter Pan, Captain Hook/Wendy Darling, Peter Pan) 1 kudo given for every 5,8th hit.
7. Too Old (Peter Pan, Captain Hook) 1 kudo given for every 6,3rd hit.
8. Professor Keller (DW, Delgado!Master, OFC, OMC) 1 kudo given for every 6,7th hit.
9. Crows Feet On the Prettiest Eyes (DW, The Curator,/Sarah Jane Smith) 1 kudo given for every 6,8th hit.
10. Solace (DW, Ainley!Master, Nyssa of Traken) 1 kudo given for every 7,7th hit.

This became a very different list. None of my top ten hits made it, which isn’t so odd, many of those are multi-chapter, so they have probably have several hits from the same persons. I was more surprised that only three made it from the top ten’s for kudos; Masquerade (no 5), Captain Hook and the Mary Sue (no 8) and Rain (no 10). Also, the majority here are DW-fics which may be because they are my newest, so they are probably better written than fics from ten years ago. The biggest surprise was Professor Keller which was the only multi-chapter who made it, and also have very few hits; 20, but as you can see, the ratio of kudos given places it on no 7. Most on this list are low-hit fics. Does this means that I write the best when I write unpopular stories? No 1, Masquerade, only have 62 hits, compared to the one-shot with most hits; Bedtime Routine with 461. But that’s a very smutty fic, which always draw readers.

Actually, you can't give more than one kudo to any fic, even if it's multi-chapter. That might affect your formula.

I know. It definitly does, but my mathematic skills isn't good enough to figure out a better way to count those. :) I Think it works if you split kudos with chapters and I tried that, but if that is a good way to do it, my multi-chapter sdidn't make it, the average was two kudos on a single chapter and didn't made the list anyway.

I mean I split both hits and kudos after how many chapter a multi chapter has. In Hook's Clutches, for example, has 100 hits on every chapter, and 3,4 kudos. Which only makes 1 kudo for every 29 hits. :)

It is fun to play with them, isn't it? And, yes, multi-chapter things are awkward. I only really have one on AO3 and as it was a repost, and only read by one person who was very enthusiastic about commenting (♥), I left it out of the equation altogether.

It is!

I wonder a Little to why fics that isn't mainstream popular seem to get more kudos. My theory is that if you like popular pairings like Ten/Rose, then it is very easy to binge-read and perhaps not bother to leave a kudo. Also, if you move away from the the popular themse you get a lot fewer fics, but the quality seems to be higher, on the whole. I'm not sure why it is so. perhaps because if you are drawn to tell a story that doesn't really draw hits, then the writer usually is very invested in it. :)

AO3 does seem to be a bit wonky at times as well. :) *hugs*

It did! Only 20 hits, but 3 kudos when I did this, but even if that isn't much, the ratio for kudos got pretty high! :)

Though when I think about it I guess I should have divided it with chapter as well and then it wouldn't have. Oh well. It's still a pretty good kudo rating. :)
