J: Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over the internet.
None. I have become a fan after being recced by a friend, but I can’t recall ever becoming a fan just because everyone talks about something.

T: Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
Not die defending, no. I have headcanons I feel strongly for, like the Master/Missy being one of River Song's spouses, but, well it’s still headcanon, not canon.

[personal profile] flowersforgraves asked:

B: A pairing – platonic, romantic or sexual – that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
I’ve been mulling over this, and I can’t say I ever have. I have pairings that I have grown on me over time, but I can’t say there have ever been due to a person changing my mind.

D: What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom?
A Peter Pan-fic called Wedding Night in 2004.. It was very dark and I don’t recommend it. I only keep it in a far dusty corner of my journal these days and not on any fanfiction sites.

X: A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
I’m not the best at naming tropes, but lots of the fic I read have a good deal of angst in it. I also really like female characters who save the day herself and not have to rely on a hero.

Remaining questions if anyone likes to ask one or more.

1. Apart from the Doctor, which would include both 1 & 2 in the answer, Delgado!Master. Is anyone surprised?
2. Pretty impossible to answer. Lis Shaw, Donna Noble, Sarah Jane. To mention a few…
3. I can’t say. There are so many loathsome characters which have comes and gone in DW’s history. Whoever it was that decided to put a screw in that poor space whale deserve a mention, though. And I don’t like poor Adric much.
4. Doctor/River Song and Doctor/Master. And, completely headcanon, but I ship River with the Master too.
5. Doctor & Companion, in general, but Three & Jo Grant and Seven & Ace are two favourites.
6. Not a particular quote, but the Master snarking the Brig in The Claws of Axos (which I otherwise think is rather humdrum), is always a delight.
7. The Doctor dying. Every. Single. Time. Even though I know he will be coming right back.
8. Nine’s joyful exclamation that for once everyone lives at the end of The Doctor Dances
9. Too many to choose from.
10. The TARDIS.

[profile] flo_nejla named Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
1.John Childermass
2. Emma Pole
3. Henry Lascelles.
4. Jonathan Strange/Arabella Strange in canon. John Childermass/Emma Pole in my mind.
5. Childermass & Vinculus
6. ”You are a magician, sir?" said Mrs Wintertowne. "I am sorry to hear it. It is a profession I have a particular dislike to." She looked keenly at him as she said so, as though her disapproval might in itself be enough to make him renounce magic instantly and take up some other occupation.”
7. Arabella’s perceived death in very moving. And I feel very sorry for the poor oak stock who clearly doesn’t enjoy being made into a woman.
8. Emma Pole finally being liberated
9. Jonathan and Arabella’s last meeting.
10. Lost Hope. Not a happy place, but certainly interesting.

1. What's the largest fandom you've ever been part of?
Doctor Who. I’ve been on the fringes of Harry potter too, but I was never feeling involved in it, as I am with Who.

2. What's the smallest fandom you've ever been part of?
Well, I guess that depends on how you count “being part of”. I have plenty of fandoms where I have written one or two fics, and some of those are very small. But I haven’t been overly involved in the fandom. But if I take a fandom I have written more than one fic, and also been actively discussing and thinking about, then it must be Elizabeth Kostova’s The Historian. AO3 have 11 fics- and I’ve written four of them.

3. What's your oldest fandom love?
Well, before i knew there was such a thing as fandom and fanfic; LOTR. I read, and reread everything Tolkien over and over between the ages 8-18, made fanart and made up stories in my head. The frist when I actually started to write fanfic was Peter Pan.

4. What's your newest fandom love?
Versailles, which was a complete surprise. In general I have low tolerance of historical TV-series- I know too much about history and way too much about historical fashion. I can make quite a list of shows I could only stomach half an episode of. But somehow Versailles despite its inaccuracies, manages to not only be ok to watch, but also grips me more than I have ever expected. It’s not without faults, but I enjoy it enormously.

5. Do you mainly read/write/draw/vid Gen, M/F, F/F or M/M?
I mainly write het. About half as many are gen-fics, and then a handful each of M/M and F/F. when it comes to reading it’s probably a lot more even, though I prefer to not read explicit M/M or F/F.

6. If you ship, are you more of a OTP, Little Black dress or multi-shipper type of shipper?
Multi-shipper. I have favourite pairings, of course, but almost all of them I enjoy in a gen-setting too. My like my favorite pairings to interact, and it doesn’t have to be any romance involved.

7. What's your favourite genre/type of story?
I used to say darkfic, but it isn't really true anymore. I like dark and angsty still, but I also really like humorous and lighthearted fic. I think I’m more particular about the things which makes me steer away from a fic, than what makes me gravitate towards it. Possibly because what I like are generally pairings/fandoms where the pool of fics are so small I read just about everything there are.

8. What rating do you prefer your stories to be?
I’ve never thought about that, but when checking the majority of my fics are for all ages, or teens. There is a good sprinkling of mature and explicit fics too, and even more of those that isn’t public anymore. I started out writing almost exclusively sexually explicit fics, but a lot of that was me working through my sexuality, and I don’t feel the need to that anymore. So nowadays I may plan a fic to be explicit, and then decide as I go I don’t think the fic needs it.

I rarely look at rating when I read fics. I check out the warnings, but not the rating.

scripsi: (Default)
Your main fandom of the year?
Versailles, followed by Doctor Who.

Your favorite film watched this year?
Tulip Fever. But to be fair, I don’t watch many movies, and when I do I usually go for old favourites.

Your favorite book read this year?
Oh, tricky! Either Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth or Things Half in Shadow by Alan Finn.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Favourite album: Jenny Gabrielsson Mare’s Comb the Wicked.

Your favorite TV show of the year?
Versailles and American Gods.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
I don’t think I made one, actually. I liked plenty of things, but there was nothing new which made me go truly fannish.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Nothing super big, but I was disappointed Emerald City got cancelled. I thought it had a lot of potential and I truly loved the sets and costumes. I also watched The Last Tycoon recently and it unexpectedly grew on me, so I’m miffed it got cancelled too.

Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
Fabien Marchal in Versailles. Can you blame me?

Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
Linda Martin in Lucifer. I adore her!

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
I don’t know. I cried twice during the Doctor Who Christmas special, but that isn’t exactly squeeing.

The most missed of your old fandoms?
Hmm, I don’t think I really miss any of the fandoms I have left behind me. I think it’s a pity Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell seems to have died out, as I’m still invested in it.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Moot question for me. Either I feel fannish and do something about it, or I don’t.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
Versailles and Doctor Who. I really look forward to see Thirteen in action.

[personal profile] sallymn asked: Is there a character in any of your fandoms do you think was criminally underused?

I’m not sure I would use the word criminally, but I certainly feel character’s are underused at times. The one that springs to mind right now is Dracula in The Historian. Given how important he is to the main characters in the book, and how much he dominates the events, his actual screen time is extremely limited. The most we see of him is in a document which recounts a meeting with him, and then he has one brief scene at the end, which ends very abruptly. I’m sure the author had a vision to why we see so little of him, but for me it doesn’t work. It makes him very distant, and less scary.

[profile] earthspirit asked; Favorite character from Penny Dreadful?

I’m not at all original, as it’s Vanessa Ives. Eva Green is amazing, though in truth I think the casting is pretty amazing over all. But Vanessa is such an interesting character. The anti-hero is rarer than the hero, but an anti-heroine is even rarer.

[profile] gryffindoridiot asked: What is your favorite book to film adaptation?

Persuasion with Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root. It’s my favourite Jane Austen, and the version is better than any other adaptations of it, IMO. There are a few scenes in the book that doesn’t make it to the screen, but apart from that, i think it's perfect. I love the casting, the settings and the clothes. The photo is beautiful! For some reason I find watching it incredibly restful, so this is a movie I often rewatch when I am feeling stressed out and frazzled.

If anyone wants to ask about another question here is the original post.

I don’t really have the time for this right now, but I’ve noticed it popping up at my f-list, and couldn’t resist.

List the first five (or so) lines of your last 20 stories (or however many you have altogether. WIPs count). See if there are any patterns.

In order of newest first:

Well, I would say that most, as in seventeen fics, start of with a mention of the main character by name, and a short description of mood, action or looks. The Raven King’s Ball differs a little as it has an ensemble cast, and Born Anew as the main character’s name isn’t mentioned at once. Apart from those fics, two starts with dialogue, and one is written as a letter. I feel Professor Keller and Julaina and John starts of a bit awkwardly- the writing improves later on. I’m partial to the opening lines of Ghosts and Arabella’s Visit. :) But I’m usually pleased with my beginnings- it’s the endings which are my downfall!

It’s also obvious how hopelessly multi-fannish I am, as those twenty fics are in twelve fandoms.

I haven’t forgotten this meme, there has just been a few things in between. Here the first batch.

1.The character I least understand
2.Interactions I enjoyed the most
3.The character who scares me the most
4.The character who is most like me
5.Hottest looks character
6.One thing I dislike about my fave character
7.One thing I like about my hated character
8.A quote or scene that haunts me
9.A death that left me indifferent
10.A character I wish died but didn't I can, at this moment, only recall one fictional character i wished died. So no real purpose in answering this question.
11.My ship that never sailed
