28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?

No. I’m not sure I would be very good at co-writing something but I would love to have artwork for a fic. It has happened once and I was enormously flattered.

25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

Answer )

26 – What is the oddest (or funniest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

Answer )

27 – Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

I have a laptop but I usually use it at our dinner table. I write on my computer unless I’m stuck somewhere without it and I get a bunny. Then I write it down manually so I won’t forget it.

What I have been watching )

And completely unrelated; I so dislike the new friends feed. I changed to it because of the promise that I could change back, but now when I’m there, I can’t find any information on how to reverse it. And the new feed makes the screen crash constantly. So annoying!

24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

I don’t have a beta-reader. I wouldn’t mind one, but I’m not sure how to get on about it. I have had it and liked it. In run my fics through a couple of online editing tools to try to catch as many mistakes as possible. English is not my native language and I’m very aware of that.

23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

LJ first, then I post on AO3 because it’s an archive I really like, and FF.net out of habit. If it’s a Doctor Who-fic I also post on Teaspoon. If there is a LJ community where the fic fits, I usually post a link to my LJ there.

22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

Yes, twice for the first time this summer. First a re-mix and the Rare Pair Fest. It was great fun and something I look forward doing again. Also, it’s a great night ego stroke to have one of your fics re-mixed.

21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

I have written sequels at times. It’s nothing I plan, though. I tend to write fics that may be connected but not necessary to read in order, more than real sequels. I have no strong feelings about sequels in particular.

20 – Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?

Answer )

19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?

Depends. If I have time to write, I write, otherwise I jot down the idea and perhaps a few lines until I have time for it. It happens that I get plot bunnies when I’m supposed to sleep, then I have to get up and write them down or I will never fall asleep that night.

18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?

Answer )

17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?

I like making up titles. I may be overly fond of using quotes, though. On the other hand; a fair number of my fics are inspired by a poem or a lyric, so it fall quite naturally to use it in the title then. I usually don’t give chapters any title, though.

16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

Summaries are so hard! Necessary, but hard. I often cheat and use a quote from the main text. Sometimes I think I should go back and re-write my summaries to make them better, but I never do.

15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?

Answer )

14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?

13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

I prefer canon, but it is still fanfiction and we are allowed to adapt. I can’t say it has changed my views, but thinking of what motivates a character do deepen one's understanding.
scripsi: (adult)
12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

No. I don’t see the point in it and I have never enjoyed reading a fic like that either. It’s just not for me.

11 – Genre – do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?

Answer )

10 – Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

Answer )

9 – Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?

Isn’t three pairings a bit much? I don’t have three for all the fandoms I have written in.
