I spend quite a lot of time thinking of consequences when I write. How something affects a person, depending on who that person is. Sarah Jane may be physically helpless against the Master, but she doesn’t allow him to make her into a victim. And she has resources to help her- she know who he is, she has travelled with the Doctor and has a knowledge about Time Lords and she knows she can draw on UNIT for support. But that doesn’t mean what happens doesn’t have any consequences for her, good or bad.
But Alison, for example, have no idea who she is dealing with and don’t know where she can turn for help. If she knew about UNIT and turned to them for help she would get it, but she don’t and has to fend for herself. Which makes the consequences so much more devastating for her.
