Writing and fan squees.
Jul. 7th, 2015 01:34 pmSo I got great pairings to choose from for Rare Pair Fest 2015 and my reciever wrote a really informative letter and we have a lot of overlapping likes so my fic basically evolved while I was reading it. And half of it is already written. Yay!
I’ve managed to salvage the last chapter of Professor Keller from memory and it’s nearing its completion as well. I suffer from separation anxieties.
The pesky fic that didn’t got written for the ‘Classics’ entry re-shaped itself in my mind. I’ll be ditching about ⅔ of it and some will be re-written but at least it clicked for me.
And I have seen the last episode of Penny Dreadful and I’m still thinking eeeep and need to talk about it. I love the show from the first episode in season 1 but I think season 2 was so much better, which says a lot. Helen McCrory as a main villain was so much better than the elusive vampire king from last season. Which I’m still not certain they really got, at least, if they did, then I think they shambled that bit. And acting, casting, costumes and setting has been all round wonderful!
It was such a dready ending for all they triumphed, wasn’t it? It was a hard blow that Sembene died, which I think was fully intended. He’s been a sort of anchor, so it made perfect sense that they all split apart and was on their own at the end.
It’s been set up for two seasons that Vanessa and Ethan are meant for each other, but now I’m not so sure. At least they aren’t meant to be “normally” happy anymore, I think Vanessa have rejected that bit. I still ship Vanessa/Sir Malcolm, of course. There have been more hints that she is his biological daughter, but I shall ignore that until it is spelled out. Either way I really love the bond between them! ANd I love the wonderful friendship Vanessa has with both Henry and the Creature!
Speaking of the Creature, I think he is the best Creature ever and much closer to Shelley’s original than any other I have seen, even if the plot is different. He is so heartbreaking! I really thought he had found someone to really relate to with the blind girl, but no.
I suppose Lilly and Dorian Grey are the big bads of next season. I suppose Hecate Poole could be, but I’m not so certain of her. She may prove to be an ally. I can imagine the darkness of Dorian may come as a surprise as the trend recently have been to make him into some sort of tragic hero. But I have read the book and I wasn't surprised. Also, he have been in the edges of the plot for two season, it was time for him to step up. But poor, poor Angelique! She finally met someone who accepted her as she was and he turned out to be evil!
I love Lilly’s rage! As Brona she was so abused and, as ghost!Lilly pointed out, Henry touching her was a kind of abuse too. Now she is getting back, big time. I would cheer on her a lot if she wasn’t so nasty! I think Billie Piper is having the time of her life getting to be so many persons in one show. And such a great job she does too.
Love that Ethan’s real name is Talbot. Of course it is! I ought to have understood that all along.
The season’s big surprise was Ferdinand Lyle, he was just so shallow and silly when he first emerged, but he gained his won depth. Loved the friendship with overtones between him and Ethan as they are so different and it was so unexpected.
