The fanfic title meme
Jun. 27th, 2020 08:05 pmTrying to ease myself into posting on a more regular basis with a fanfic meme.
Gakked from all over my f-list.
Look at the most recent 20 fanwork titles on your AO3 account:
The Might of His Strength (The Mummy)
The End of the Story by Dancingsalome
Sable Coats and Razorblades (All About Eve)
I Always Wanted To Be A Pirate Queen (The Hungover Remix) (Doctor Who)
A Moment (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel)
To Lucy With Love (Timeless)
A Conversation in the Yellow Drawing-Room, And Other Letters To Mrs Strange (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell)
Remembrance (Versailles)
Soaring High (The Flying Lesson Remix) (Harry Potter)
Nothing Interesting Ever Happens in Perivale (Doctor Who)
A Gift For Her Heart (Ivanhoe)
Wedding Nerves (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell)
The Devourer (Peter Pan)
Homeward (The Borgias)
My Only Love (Versailles)
Mrs. Meister (Doctor Who)
Sunset (The Tequila Sunrise Remix) (Harry Potter)
Freely Given (Versailles)
The fic on AO3 Falling (Versailles)
Super Terram (Original Work, JAMES M. R. - Works)
1. How many are you happy with?
Most of them.
2. How many are... not great?
I’m not exactly dissatisfied with A Moment, but it is rather plain.
3. How many did you scramble for at the last minute?
None.
4. How many did you know before you started writing/creating, or near the beginning?
All of them. I can never really get started on a fic until I have a title.
5. How many are quotes from songs or poems?
None.
6. How many are other quotes?
Three; The Might of His Strength is a paraphrase from a line in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. My Only Love and Falling both comes from Shakespeare quotes.
7. Which best reflects the plot of the story/content of the fanwork?
Super Terram. It means “above ground” and it’s pretty much the whole point of this little ghost story.
8. Which best reflects the theme of the story/fanwork?
Sable Coats and Razorblades which is really a comment on the main characters’ personalities.
9. Which best reflects the character voice of the story/POV of the fanwork?
Probably A Conversation in the Yellow Drawing-Room, And Other Letters To Mrs Strange
10. Which is your favourite?
A difficult choice, but I think it’s Nothing Interesting ever Happens in Perivale
