I have a few new friends: welcome! So I thought it was time to finish writing this about me-meme to provide some infomration about me.
BASIC INFORMATION
Name: Charlotte
Age and birth date: 45 / February 8
Sign: Aquarius
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT
Education: Two years of art school. The Swedish equivalent of a BA in English. Librarian school.
Occupation: I work with information services for a train company. The downside is that I work irregular hours and sometimes have to get up at four in the morning. The upside is that I work irregular hours, which means full time is 38 hours/week instead or the Swedish normal of 40 hours. And as I work long days with no breaks, I have 11 days off during a four-week period, instead of teh usual eight.
Occupational history: When I studied I worked at a bakery/coffee shop. Then I worked in a book shop and then as a librarian's assistant and, for a short while the job I have now returned to . And then I was a children’s books librarian for a couple of years.
Career goals: At the moment I don’t have any. I’m not particularly ambitious, I just want to go to a work I enjoy and get a salary that I can live on.
FAMILY
Partner: I’m married. My husband and I have known each other since I was in my teens, but we didn’t fall in love until I was 37. He is smart, shy, a tendency to be extraordinarily corny and have an explosive temper he never directs at me. He is also very tall, slim and had dark hair until it turned grey. Exactly my type, in other words. He is extremely particular about his clothes and probably spend four times the money on his wardrobe than I do. He is fourteen years older than me.
Children: I have a son who is seventeen and who lives with me half the time. He is very bright and very pleasant to be around. My husband don’t have any children. I’m also extra-Mum to Mims, who is an adult now, but whose Mum, who was a friend of mine, died when she was a kid and I stepped in.
Parents: They are in their early 70’s and both are retired teachers. They are still married, and had their first date in 1966. The seem happy with life and with each other. Apart from my father’s recent struggles with throat cancer, they are in very good health. I get along well with both of them, even if I’m especially close to my mother. We are very much alike and often see each other for lunch or an exhibition.
Other: A younger sister, her husband and baby boy. We are close, but she doesn’t live in Stockholm, so I don’t see her as often as I like. Their first child, a little girl, died at birth two years ago, and I sometimes talk about that. My Mum has no siblings, but a first cousin who grew up with her and they are like sisters. So I call her my aunt. My father has three sisters and two brothers, but he, and I, are only close to my youngest aunt and uncle. I also have fifteen cousins, but are only close to the four youngest. But as they are a lot younger than I am, I’m more of an aunt than a cousin.
Then there is the Ex, my son's father. We were together for more than a decade and even if our separation was very painful, we are now good friends. He is married now. His brother, with wife and toddler, live in New York, all of whom I love and consider my family too.
Pets: Four cats. The tabbies Nils and Missy. Sheera who is tri-coloured, though mostly brown. And Hobbes, who is part Siamese. He is black, but with blue eyes and a BIG voice. He is also PECULIAR in good old Siamese tradition. We also have two dogs, Shetland Sheepdog brothers called Teddie and Tom. Tom is the oldest and brightest and very much “my” dog, Teddie is unusually goofy for being a Sheltie.
IDENTITY AND BELIEFS
Sexual orientation/relationships: Cis-gendered and heterosexual female. I see myself as polyamorous as have no troubles being in love with more than one person at the time. But for several reasons I’m in an exclusive relationship with my husband. We also have a BDSM relationship where I am the submissive, but I rarely mention that here.
Mental health: I lived in a depression for eight years, though I have been free from symptoms for tens years now. I do monitor my mental state quite closely and take actions when I feel too worn or fragile.
Physical health: Quite good. My repository systems acts up now and then, and I’m rather out of shape as a result of that. But my overall physical health is good and I have the genetic makeup to be about 90.
Political leaning: Leftist, but in truth all political parties in Sweden annoys me more or less..Feminist.
Religious affiliation: None.
Languages spoken: Swedish and English. I can read Danish and Norwegian and understand spoken Norwegian. I can understand the gist of a French text.
Tattoos/piercings: My ears are pierced, but that’s it.
JUST-FOR-FUN PERSONALITY STUFF
MBTI: INFJ, which I feel is pretty accurate.
Harry Potter House: Ravenclaw!
Your LiveJournal username meaning: Scripsi is Latin for “I write”.
People I talk about: My husband, parents and sister. Less about my son and other family. A little about my closest friends, M, C and K. Mostly I post fanfic and fandom related stuff. I like to talk about what I read and watch.
INTERESTS
Hobbies: I read a lot. I write fanfiction and sometimes costume related articles. I sew most of my clothes. I sew historical costumes and do some 18th century reenacting. I would love to get back into drawing again.
TV shows: Doctor Who, both classic and new. Versailles, Grimm, The Man in the High Castle, Supernatural, An American Horror Story, Sherlock, How To Get Away With Murder, Westworld, The Blacklist, Jessica Jones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Monty Python, Red Dwarf, Black Adder, The Young Ones, Charmed, Once Upon A Time (even Wonderland), Penny Dreadful, Outlander, Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes, Agent Carter, Daredevil and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. For example- I watch a lot of shows…
Music: Aurelio Voltaire, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Divine Comedy, the Cure, Thåström, Tom McRae, The Puppini Sisters, the Beatles, Tori Amos and I also enjoy classical music and opera.
Books: Dorothy L. Sayers, Neil Gaiman, Lois McMaster Bujold, Diana Wynne Jones, Tove Jansson are among my favourites. I tend to read mystery novels and fantasy, but read just about anything. I also enjoy biographies a lot.
Things I don't like: Bigotry. Narrow-mindedness. Righteousness.
Random enjoyments: Take walk with my dogs. Eat good food. Perfume. Hug my husband. See my friends. Sleep. Going to my family’s summer house. Spend time with my son.
And last I keep this LJ fairly private, in that I don’t show photos of myself. I talk about things here very few people IRL know about, namely only my husband and C, K and M.
