As lways spoilers under the Cuts.

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. I really liked this book, set in Victorian London, but with a couple of strong fantasy and steampunk elements. It started out with a telegraphist receiving a mysterious watch as an anonymous gift, and a bomb threat, and I thought it would be a bit of a thriller, but it isn’t, really. But it’s a bit hard to describe what happens without spoilers. I can say it’s about a man who see the colours of sounds, and a woman who want to see the ether. And about a man who remembers his future and forgets his past. And two love stories. And a clockwork octopus. And I enjoyed every page of it. This is Pulley’s debit novel and it makes me really excited to see what she writes next.

Grimm is over, and I think it got a good finale. I was convinced Renard and Eve/Juliette would die to make up for evil deeds, as that is what usually happens to ambiguous characters like that, and I was really pleased when they didn’t. I also liked the glimpse of a future with Diana and Kelly bickering very sibling-like, and clearly being close to Monroe and Rosalee’s triplets (though I would have loved to learn what kind of Wessen they became). And by Diana’s mention of Mum and Dud suggest Renard continues to be an ally. Still sorry it’s over.

Last episode of OUAT was quite good, I think. Well, Oded fehr was finally back, which alone made it better, but I also liked Jasmine’s story. But I’m so tired of the hysterical pace of this show. After teasing us with the Agraba plot since forever, everything is suddenly over and finished with. I really do think there was room for a couple of episodes on this. I liked how it finally ties in with the ending of Wonderland, when it concerned Jafar. I like less that a lot of his characterisation is ignored. One of the most interesting things about him in Wonderland was how he had several chances of redeeming himself, and constantly choose otherwise. And his overwhelming need to be loved. Oded fehr is a great actor and I know he would have done a good job of it, if he only got the chance. And now he is a stick. I suspect not forever, though, as Hook seems set on enlisting Jafar’s help to get back to Emma.

I loved Snow getting drunk and picking fight with a gang of Vikings, and got annoyed with Gideon. I mean, Emma is the Saviour and Gideon was kidnapped by his evil grandmother who abused him. I’m sure Emma would have agreed to go after her without being coerced into it.

And Versailles will start airing in Sweden on April 13. Wohoo! I only hope it won’t be any hassle, as it’s on a streaming channel we don’t have. It ought not to be a problem, but I’m always sceptical to those things until they do work. I really, really want to watch the new season. If worst come to worst the French DVD will be released by the end of April (with both the English and the French-dubbed version). But I think that if you are in USA you’ll need a DVD player which can play European DVDs.

I really liked the Grimm finale, last three episodes really and liked the fairy tale ending. It was lovely. I do think Diana was referring to Nick not Renard, with the implication that Nick raised her too and she is close to both Renard and Nick, but either way it works because I like to think Renault remains an ally in his ambiguous way.
