1. Talk about the first ship you ever had.
Way before fanfiction; Aragorn/Eowyn. My father read The Lord of the Rings for me when I was eight, and I was deeply disappointed when Arwen showed up, as I had hardly noticed her before. Fanfiction-wise it was Captain Hook/Wendy Darling.
2. Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life.
None. As I say, I’m not a huge shipper.
3. What’s your current OTP?
I don’t have OTP’s, even if I have ships I like a lot. The closest I have is probably the Doctor/the Master.
4. What’s your current NOTP?
I don’t do NOTP’s. I’m sure there are ships I don’t like, but they don’t interest me enough to even remember while I write these answers.
5. Do you have any poly ships?
Yes, many more than I have single ships. Evy/Rick/Ardeth from The Mummy. Also Peggy/Jarvis/Ana from Agent Carter, Cesare Borgia/Lucrezia Borgia/Micheletto Corella from The Borgias, Doctor/River/Master, Doctor Who and Amanda/The Rowdy 3 from Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
6. How do you feel about love triangles?
I don’t like them much, in general. Jealousy bores me, and they are so often written with one person being the bad person who breaks up relationships. Way too often love triangles comes across as lazy writing to bring in tension.
7. How do you feel about RPF?
I don’t like them. Speaking as a woman who feels like a stalker if she googles a famous person- RPF feels far to invasive of privacy.
8. Have you ever shipped yourself with a character?
No, and yes. I’ve never written a fanfic with myself, but I used to make up stories where *I* met persons who weren’t straight up a fictional character, but who heavily borrowed from one.
9. Do you have many ships that never got together at all?
Yes. Isn’t that one of the joys of fanfiction? I think most of my shippy fics features ships which never have a romantic relationship in canon. Right now Fabien/Sophie in Versailles, for example. They have a nice tension in the show, they flirt a little with each other, but I find it very unlikely they will ever get together in the show. Hence fanfic!
10. Do you ship any characters that have never met?
Oh yes. I have a whole head-canon shipping River Song/The Master.
11. Talk about your favorite first kiss.
Can’t think of one, so I obviously don’t have one...
12. Have you ever been disappointed when your ship finally got together?
No.
13. Has a ship ever broken your heart?
No.
14. How do you feel about will they/won’t they?
As it is usually dragged out forever; boring. But for a shorter period it can be entertaining.
15. Have you ever “shipped at first sight”?
Probably… You can really tell I hang up my whole fandom life on ships, can’t you?

17. Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically.

That happens quite often, actually. At the very least I will not be shipping those everyone ship. It isn’t on purpose, it just happens. I feel very alone in shipping Delgado!Master/Liz Shaw and Ainley!Master/Sarah Jane Smith. :D
21. Is there a ship you just don’t get, but have nothing against?
I very rarely see slash pairings if they aren’t canon. It happens, but not very often. But I have nothing against slash and reads it, even if I in general prefers het.
22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry?
Odd question. I wouldn’t ship if I didn’t feel they had good chemistry, and I find it very difficult to say which one is the “best”..
23. Which of your ships deserve better writing?
Oh, I don’t know. I can only come up with shows I wish had better writing, period. Like Once Upon A Time, where I enjoy some ships, but not any I’m super into.
24. Do you mostly ship canon pairings?
No, I mostly ship non-canon pairings. I’m not sure why, but I think it may be because one of the things that draws me to read and write fic is tension between characters. So even if I enjoy established relationship in canon and often find them very satisfying, it isn’t what I go for when it comes to fanfiction. Also, the reason I ship if because I feel there is something between the characters in canon, but it isn’t expired there, so fanfic fill that void.
25. Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs and graphics or similar?
No
26. Have you noticed a pattern in your shipping? Is there a romantic dynamic you’re more drawn to?
Nothing clear-cut. I like a difference in power dynamic, angst and female protagonist who are active and independent.
27. Is there a ship you’ve shipped for most of your life?
No.
28. Does shipping come easily to you?
No idea.
29. Do you need to ship something to really enjoy a movie/book/tv show/comic?
Absolutely not. Something I love is strong canon friendships, and several of my favourites features that, while romance takes second beat for me. In fact, I’m rarely drawn to canon sources where romance is the main feature, even if I don’t mind if it’s part of the plot.
30. Name a couple of fandoms in which you have no ships.
Many, but to take a few; Emily of New Moon and The Man In the High Castle, Supernatural and Eureka.
31. Talk about one of your favorite headcanons for a ship you love.
I have written a whole series, A Little Less Than Kin, about the relationship between River Song and various Master (not all of them romantic). I know they have never met, but I think they would suit each other quite well. The Doctor and the Master are very alike after all, and River has a certain amorality of her own, so she could probably ignore the Master’s less nice sides in a way the Doctor can’t. And at the same time she has a lot of Doctor-like qualities which the Master could appreciate. They are great fun to write.
