Saturday in Stockholm is grey and rainy, and I work. Let's brighten the day with one of my favourite artists, Nils Dardel (1888-1943). Born into the Swedish aristocracy he was not always considered a great artist- too wealthy, too upper class, but nowadays he is considered one of Sweden's best Post-Modernism painters.
And a very beautiful man.

His Most famous work The Dying Dandy

And here is the first version of it, though it was deemed too controversial having the dandy being surrounded by men, so it was reworked.

The Young Man and the Girl

The Waterfall

A Visit to An Excentric Lady

Portrait of Ellen Roosvall.

Portrait of Rolf de Maré Dardel's friend and lover.

Portrait of Eva Bonnier.

Dardel's wife Tora.

Edita Morris, Dardel's partner at the end of his life. It's also one of my favourite portraits ever.

Portrait of an Irishwoman.
