We are definitely living on the edge of a before-and-after time.

Like when you tell a story to someone and realize you have to clarify "this was before cell phones so I couldn't call anyone for help" or "this was before the Internet so I couldn't look it up" or "this was before 9/11 so when you took a friend to the airport you walked with them to their gate."

Someday we'll be talking like "so this was back when people thought it was okay to say the n-word as long as they were quoting a rap song and people didn't think eating from communal salad bars was disgusting".

Only time will tell which way it goes with "this was before we got out act together so the whole climate change/healthcare/wealth gap/totalitarian government thing was kind of scary" or "this was back before we realized how bad it was going to get".
