dunderklumpen asked: Which generation was yours and what did you love the most? = child of the 70s with an undying love for disco, child of the 80's with a strong link to revolutionary punk or child of the 90's with Europop on your discman through and through;)

I was born in 1971, so even if I listened to music all the time because my parents always listened to music, it was what they liked, not what I had chosen, even if I liked it well enough. so the 70’s was classical music, Swedish progg (quite different from progg from Britain and USA), folk music and a number of artist singing Swedish songwriters like Bellman (18th century), Taube, Ferlin, Söderberg and Dan Andersson. I still love this music because I grew up with it.

But the first band I actually choose for myself was ABBA. :) I didn’t really develop a music taste of my own until the 80’s. In Stockholm in the early 80’s there was a sharp polarity between those who listened to rock and those who listened to synthpop. I grew up in an estate where most people were working class and rock music was THE thing. Of course, I developed a taste for synthpop, mainly Depeche Mode a band I still love, but this kind of music feels very early 80’s for me. I broadened my horizon when I was sixteen and came to a school where this strict polarity didn’t exist and started to listen to rock music too. :)

Same here, listened to a lot of my parents music - and just expanded on it when I got older and could chose for myself.

You can never go wrong with ABBA! *gg* I know that one either hates or loves them. I love them. Their music just makes me happy. Perfect for cleaning the appartment as well btw And then sometimes there are versions of their songs I didn't expect at all in this kind of way (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc3t268KiRc) which shows again and again that their music just is good enough to stand the test of time and different styles.

I didn't expect such a range of "swedish classics" in there...

My parents were not music fans so i copied my brother for awhile growing up and listening to The Stones and the Beatles. I developed my musical tastes at high school with friends listening to soul, ska and some rock music. I then late eighties branched out further to my eclectic mix i enjoy now.

I guess most of us do. :) I do listen to a lot of the music I grew up with, but my sister do not. *hugs*

I agree, ABBA is good for cleaning. It's very happy music for me too.
