I’m having a period with insomnia, which is a dreary as always. It doesn’t help that I have pulled a muscle in my back either. Hopefully it will be better tonight as we cleaned the house and I made Chhote Kofte and Makkhani Murghi (Lamb meatballs and chicken in butter sauce) for tomorrow’s birthday dinner. I love Indian food! Tomorrow I just need to heat it and make the rice and Naan breads. So I’m rather tired.

Sister and BiL can’t come tomorrow as she suffer from a bad case of SPD- and with 20 weeks to go of the pregnancy. ANd as it is a high risk pregnancy they don’t dare to give her any medication to help with the pain.

My father has regained most of his voice and sense of taste. I hope it will bring back his appetite- he has lost about ten kilos. On an already slim man, this looks rather alarming and he has aged a lot this past months. His turning 72 this year, but a year ago he looked to be in his 50’s, and he has always looked very youthful, so I feel a bit shocked every time I see him.

It’s around freezing point and very damp outside which makes my joint ache. That’s middle age for you, I guess. I don’t see my 45 years when I look in the mirror, people generally think i’m about ten years younger than I am, but in the last year or so I have noticed that my body isn’t as cooperative as it used to be.

And speaking of looking younger, I am having a rather weird experience with acquaintance of mine. They are mother and daugher and the mother is two year older than me and the daughter 20. The daughter is a really sweet girl who for some reason seems to have acquired a bit of a hero-worship when it comes to me. It feels a bit odd, but as she’s so sweet I don’t mind. The weird bit is that her mother seems to have decided I’m very young too. She’s made comments about “you youngsters” several times and she’s treating me in a rather motherly way which feels very weird to me as we are of teh same generation. She’s nice, but it’s a strange feeling to be treated like I’m her daughter's age. She’s never met my kid so I don’t think she has realised I have a seventeen-old son, which otherwise would indicate I can’t be “that” young. And now this has been going on for some time and it feel very awkward to try to drop it in the conversation. Or pointing out how old I actually am.

I am so glad your father is doing better. I hope he can pick up with eating again. I also hope you are able to get some sleep.

Well, I got "proofed" for buying some beer for my father-in-law when I was in my late 40s! They took a look at my license and just couldn't believe it. Even now, in my 50s, people seem to think I'm in my 30s. Still, the body does age and it doesn't do all the things it used to... yoga helps a great deal with at least not degenerating further, but there are aches and pains. I go through periods of insomnia, for years now. Sometimes, you just have to ride it through until you're so exhausted, you finally sleep!

I hope your dad continues to do better and can pick up his eating.

Strange about the acquaintance and her daughter. I don't even know what to advise you to do except maybe make your own comment about the youngsters.... I wouldn't worry too much about it, though!

Aw, I do hope you feel better soon & get some proper sleep! Taste should definitely help with your Dad; it really does take a lot out of eating, especially when someone is unwell. :-/

As to the other, I don't know, beyond randomly mentioning your son's birthday or yours or something! Everyone in my family has tended to get treated as being younger than we are - we do tend to look so, but also we're short and some people go by height! *shrugs*

I haven't been asked for that, but a friend of mine was just before Christmas- at 45. She was very flattered. :)

I do Pilates regulary, but fell off the bandwagon when I had a bad cold recently, and I really feel that! .

Thank you! I slept a bit better last night and my fatehr was visible better than when I saw him last, a few weeks ago.

I don't worry about it, it just feels a bit- odd. :)

Hope your dad gets his appetitie back, and glad he's doing better. I also hope your sisters pregnancy goes well and that she is well taken care of. :)

Age! I swear something happened when I turned 30 - I have always been a night owl, but since I turned 30, usually in bed by ten and tired too.

Och...Insomnia always has unpleasant side effects. 'Feeling your age' has always been one of them (no matter the age!). Hope you feel better, honey!

So glad your dad is doing better. Hope he finds more strength and gets some weight to him soon...
