Touching ground

Still on vacation, but I’m spending a day home after two weeks at our summer cottage. Tomorrow we are going on a little road trip in south of Sweden. It’s been cold and rainy, so no bathing, but a lot of reading. And watching The Strain. Have you seen it? I’m a bit of two minds over it. I very quickly grew tired of infected people, giant tongues and beheadings and I fail to warm to Corey Stoll’s hero doctor. I find him tedious and unsympathetic and the storyline about his son and former wife extremely predictable. I also find the look of the master vampire extremely silly. An epic fail when it comes to creepiness.
On the other hand I really like David Bradley’s old vampire hunter pretty compelling and I very quickly developed a huge crush on Kevin Durand whom I have never watched before. What can I say, very tall dark men is very much my type. I also like the relationship between his and Bradley’s characters, which develops very nicely from a first somewhat grudging respect to something more of a father and son connection. I also like the master vampires main henchman, a former Nazi officer. He is scarier in his human “makeup” than when he is his vampire self, though.
I’m sure you have already seen this, but in case not, I post it anyway; If you would like to find some new LJ-friends, then consider commenting on
luxos multi-fandom friending meme.
And
wicked_awards is taking nominations for fanworks for Doctor Who as well as Angel, Buffy, Charmed,, Firefly/Serenity, Star Trek, Stargate, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Torchwood and X-Files. An excellent opportunity showcase fanworks you really like. (You can also nominate yourself).
Now I’m going back to not post much for another fortnight or so.
