Day 4: Your view on religion

I’m not religious. I can’t say I’m an atheist because, to quote Oliver Wendell Jones in Outland; “The Universe is a little too darned orderly to be just a big accident.” But I don’t do organized religion. I have nothing against it, as long as people aren’t fundamentalists I’m fine with any religion.

When it comes to life in general, it’s rather down at the moment. Our oldest dog is awaiting surgery for what we hope (the odd are for it) a stone that had got stuck in his gall bladder. Bit it may be a tumour and we can’t know until they open him up. My dogs are brothers and have never been apart, so the other dog goes around looking worried and don’t think anything is funny, not even walks. EDIT: The vet called and the surgery went fine. Hopefully he will be back home tomorrow.

Hopefilly, it will all be good with your dog. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I completely agree with you on the sentiment that any religion is fine as long as the person is not fundamentalist. Any fundamentalism is creepy to me.

Yes, fundamentalists are scary!

Poor dog! I hope it goes all right for him and all of you.

I somehow ended up as the only person in my family with absolutely zero spiritual yearnings, so I get prayed for a lot.

LOL. Mu Mum is an atheist and my father keeps whatever he believe in for himself, but my sister is religious, much to the surprise of the rest of the family. :)

Zealotry, religious or otherwise, scares me. But I think I'm a rather temperate person in general compared to most of those I know.

I'm probably the least spiritual religious person you're likely to meet. We're Ukrainian Catholic, and I teach Sunday School, and bake prosphora to be consecrated for Communion, and cantor, and lector, and sing in the choir, and inflict St. Nicholas pageants on people, but it's a lot more cultural than theological for me. Taking a degree in Religious Studies makes it difficult to go True Believer.

Yes, me too!

Though I'm not religious, I'm still raised in the Lutheran Protestant culture Sweden has- there's no escaping it. :) And I do celebrate Christmas and Easter. :) And Midsummer and Walpurgis, which isn't really Christian at all, but hugely important here.
