12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

No. I don’t see the point in it and I have never enjoyed reading a fic like that either. It’s just not for me.

It's not my cup of tea either. But to each their own.

Sometimes they can be cleverly done, and point out unexpected parallels, but most of them are a bit... er, no. But then I suppose that's true of most fanfic!!

True. There are a lot of poorly written fics out there, it can be daunting to find the nuggets. Which I guess is why I read rather narrowly; writers I know are good or character's that appeals to me. That's why I love fic recs so much; you'll get a chance to read outside the box. And I'm sure an adaption fic like that could work very well, though I would probably only read it if it comes recommended.

Weirdly I have occasionally enjoyed fics like that when I'm not actually that familiar with the film in question, I suppose because it reads more as an original story to me, even though I know that it's not? But if I've seen the film and know what happens in it already, then yeah I can't get into those stories at all

I think that makes perfect sense! :)
