LJ interest meme
Dec. 4th, 2015 08:08 pmGakked from all over.
Look at your LJ “interests” list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. / If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. / If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. / If you have fewer than ten, pick all of ‘em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
Aurelio Voltaire: In my usual habit of doing things in the wrong order, I waited until I was over 30 to become a proper fangirl. Of course I have a loved a number of artists and bands over the years, but none like Voltaire. If you want to put a label on him he is a Goth singer, but he picks his inspirations from a number of sources and even if his albums often have a certain theme, they sound very different from each other. (I also find him rather yummy to look at, but I feel for the music before I knew what he looked like.) Almost all of his music can be found on Youtube, but here I give you one of my favourites. It always cheers me up and as a lot of people on my f-list needs a little cheering right now, I thought it would be suitable.
Captain Hook: I always liked Captain Hook better than Peter Pan and when I first started to writing fanfic, it was a picture of Jason Isaacs as Hook who triggered it.
Doctor Who: I started to watch Who as an adult a few years before new Who came. I liked it from the start, fell in love with it with Tree, but it never occurred to me to investigate the fandom until pretty much exactly a year ago. So glad I did!
Fashion history: I know I don’t talk much about it here, but it’s actually a huge interest for me. I have a special interest for the 17th and 18th century and i do a bit of 18th century re-enacting.
Kate Bush: A musical favourite since my early teens and who I still listen to a lot.
Neil Gaiman: One of my favourite authors. I read Sandman i my late teens and loved it, but it took me quite some time to register who had written it. Not until I watched Neverwhere which I loved and went hunting for more of his books. Neverwhere and American Gods are my favourites.
Perfume history: I love perfume and I find it fascinating how people perceive and put meaning into scent. I also find it fascinating how certain scents can become fashionable and how different periods can crave a certain kind of scent while condemning another. The big drawback is that all my favorite perfumes are either not made anymore or have been re-formulated to become cheaper and don’t smell as nice anymore. (If you suddenly think that this new bottle of your favourite perfume doesn’t smell as good anymore, then it has probably been re-formulated. It’s almost never makes the perfume better.) So I’m constantly saving up to be able to buy those hard to get perfume. The Perfumes Court is my friend.
The Divine Comedy: Another musical artist I really like with quirky lyrics and sometimes annoyingly catchy tunes.
Tom McRae. Music again. British singer/songwriter. Not spectacular, but I like his lyrics a lot.

And Kate Bush is great indeed. Discovered her in Uni when I studied Wuthering Heights. Love her sound.

They're really interesting periods history-wise, not just the fashion. :)
