I have watched the first episodes of Games of Thrones! Several yeasr after everyone else. The thing is I was convinced I had tried to watched it and started reading halfway through. That’s my lackmus test for new shows- if I pick up a random book (and there are always random books around me) and start to read, then I won’t watch more. Dracula went that way and season two of True Detectives. But the other day husband went to bed early and I thought I was going to continue re-watching Deadwood. Only I found out when I was already installed in the armchair with a cat in my lap that the Kid had watched Games of Thrones. So lazy as I am I decided to give it another try. And realised I never did try to watch it- I wonder what fantasy series it was that I dissed…

Anyways, what I know about Games of Thrones is that there is a lot of gratuitous nudity, sex and everyone dies. I’m three episodes in and the first two has certainly held true. I don’t get offended by it, but I find it rather boring. But apart from that I find myself rather interested in the various plot-lines and will watch on. At the very least I will get some knowledge of a pop cultural phenomena. :)

Doctor Thorne was low-key nice and the costumes got better fitting by episode two. Not spectacular in any way, but nice.

We are five episodes into season 2 of Daredevil. I found the first episodes a bit slow go, but now I’m enjoying it. I still find Matt rather bland, but I like Foggy and Karen and when the Punisher got a background story and became more than a killing machine he got more interesting too. I like that Claire has turned up again and I enjoy the nods towards Jessica Jones.

I like your test for TV shows. :D
Yess, in GoT, horrible things happen to everyone you love. At least the first few books were definitely like that.

Nothing much happened in Dr Thorne did it? The dancing at the end was nice.

I did try the first 'Games of Thrones' book years ago, before they made it in to a TV series and gave up on it. I'm not bothering with the TV series as I haz Shakespeare's histories;p

No, not much. But pretty houses and almsot evryone was happy by the end. :)

I'm not very keen on that type of fantasy so I've never read them. My kid says it's rather different from the series, though.

The first season of GoT isn't too bad, but after that, the sexism and outright woman-hating gets bad. The books are much better :) Still, it is a pretty production.

I haven't read the books, but from what I understand it's ionly the first season who is faitful(-ish). Well, I don't have problems stopping watching things, so for now on I will watch on. :)

I feel like Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and the Punisher are all going to cross over and run into each other every now and then. It's a really smart move on Marvel/Netflix's part to keep us all watching all of their programming.

I always feel like HBO has somewhere in it's contract that you must have x minutes of nudity each season and I feel like GoT tries to cram it all into two episodes sometimes LOL. I always compare it to Battlestar Galactica in that, while it is technically a fantasy, it's really just about politics. But with dragons. Also, Season 1, the women are sorta okay, but by the end, they are so much more.

Curious to see what the second half of DD holds. First half was interesting but I felt like that was pretty familiar ground for a superhero story. I hope the Elektra story is more engaging.

Good Point!

so far Electra hasn't grabbed me at all, but she still feels ratehr one-dimensional to me. Hopefully she'll be better rounded as the series progress. :)

The one thing Game of Thrones may have even more than sex is plotlines. And/or characters. *g*

(I read the first four books at some point, so I found the TV show didn't really work for me; when it followed the books, it wasn't a surprise, and when it didn't, I felt annoyed they'd changed stuff. Gah.)

There syre is a lot of plotlines... :)

I skipped over the Daredevil paragraph. Still haven't started it.

I loved Game of Thrones for the first, few seasons. The book series is one of my favorites.

Were you talking about the recent Dracula series? I loved that. And I mention it because I thought it's love scenes were much better, more passionate and romantic than Game of Thrones, which were much more explicit, but as you said, boring.

I haven't read GoT, so i have no clue of what will happen. :) so far I enjoy it, even if there are aspects that makes me itch, esepcially when it comes to how women are portrayed.

Were you talking about the recent Dracula series?

That would be it, yes. Taste differs. :) I picked up a book halfway through the first episode and didn't even notice when the episode was over... And I really wanted to like it- I love vampires!

Well, you're right about Game of Thrones there! And that includes the plotlines. Because they sure are engaging! I love that show! :-D

I've seen the first season now and a few in the second. I'm not completely won over, even if I think the worldbuilding and acting is great and some of the characters very interesting. :)

Well, that was what got me caught in that series web... :-) And then I just HAD to find out what would happen with them and then I got caught up in that world... It does go from good to better to good to even better again. :-)
