[livejournal.com profile] snogged asked: Who is your favorite superhero and why?

I don’t read much comics and I have never been that keen on superheroes, but as a kid I loved The Phantom. Mainly, I think that because it’s a hereditary position there was a lot of adventures about previous Phantoms during various epochs. I always loved the historical adventures the most. I haven’t read a Phantom comic in years, though. I think I would be rather put off by the premises of a superior white man in Africa now.

Is he the power of ten tigers one? I only know him from the TV cartoons. Like you I've never really been a comics reader except for the Beano and Dandy which are different to what most people mean when they say they are a comics fan!

That sounds like him, yes. :)

I like a lot French/Belgian comics like Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tintin and Gaston. And Calvin & Hobbes, Bloom County and Fox Trot. The only real adult comics I have read is Sandman, so I'm pretty far from the whole superheroes thing.

Ah, Asterix I forgot about him! A superhero of a kind! I remember the really rubbish Tintin cartoons (there may be a theme here involving telly;p) from my childhood. Now they have Tintin ones with decent animation, bah.

The nearest I've got to adult comics are the ones in Doctor Who magazine.

That's true- he is! I never watched Tintin as a cartoon. And I have never read any DW comics either. Are they any good?

As an infrequent reader of DWM, I don't know as the stories are spread over several issues! The artwork is all right. You need an expert!

Oh, I used to read that one to! And yes, indeed... So much... awkward when you re-read it. :-P And let me not even begin on Tintin, because good grief the older albums... I can't help but love them though. :-P

At least Hergé made amends after being crticism and the later albums got a lot better! :)
