What I have been watching
Apr. 18th, 2016 03:06 pmBeware of spoilers.
I watched the first episode of Outlander and liked it. I have nothing against Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe, I enjoy them very much, but Tobias Menzie plays the skirt of everyone! He is amazing! He completely stole the scenes when Frank and Claire tries to find a way back to each other. I quite look forward to this season. However, if I read one more article who talks about how correct the costumes are, I shall scream. The costumes are gorgeous, but they are not a correct representation of the actual fashion and shouldn’t be called that.
My main reaction to The Blacklist was, and still is; “Eeeep”. Surely Liz can’t be dead? It must be an elaborate hoax to get the pursuers of the scent. Red did get the third person in the ambulance away and it was his tame doctor who proclaimed the death.
I have finished all five seasons of Games of Thrones. This is what I think. (I have no idea what the GoT fandom thinks.)
Jon Snow may be dead, but I’m sure he will be resurrected one way or the other. A narrative that has haussed up his unknown mother does not kill off the character until the big secret is revealed. So he will be back. I guess we will eventually find out his mother is really ned’s sister and his father that dragon prince who abducted her. I predict Jon will either end up king of the north, or get the whole iron Throne.
I don’t think the Hound is dead either. Again, the narrative has set him against his brother and the logical end is that he will finally kill his brother in the end.
I hated Sansa’s storyline in the last season. Why on earth get her off one sadist and then deliver her to the next? T feels rather lacking in imagination. Also, I get that her husband is a sadistic monster, but really- has he no political sense at all? He marries the (as far as anyone know) last Stark, a family that seems to be very popular. The smart thing to do would be to parade a smiling Sansa up and down the countryside, not lock her into a room and beat and rape her. She’s a politically important person and it’s just plain stupid to abuse her.
I maintain that Littlefinger is the scariest person of all in this series.
Shae, as I predicted, did cause Tyrion’s life go to hell. I still love Tyrion.
I’m sure Jamie will be killed eventually, but what I want is for him and his son to go into exile in some nice place- Tarth, for example, and live happily ever after.
On the whole I do not love this series, even if various plotlines grips me. My tolerance for patriarchal medieval-inspired fantasy world is rapidly diminishing the older I get.
I’m interested, but not entirely pleased, with Grimm right now. Renard has been set up as a possible antagonist to Nick from the start and I was convinced he was the bad guy the whole first season. Renard likes power, but he also seems to have a strong sense of civic duty and he hasn’t displayed any malevolence toward humans. So even if I could see him corrupted to gain power, I can’t see him sidling with the Black Claw. I can imagine he pretends to get his daughter back, of course. (And didn’ät that kid look creepy? And old- how many years has really passed or do Hexenbiest grow quicker than normal?
I’m also heartily tired of the on and off when it comes to Hexenbiest powers. When Adelind was stripped of her powers the last time they made it sound like it was for good- now it suddenly isn’t. Which of course means Juliette may come back. But really, isn’t this an old hat?
Orphan Black is back and I liked the start of it. A new clone and finally some background on Beth.

Date: 2016-04-18 03:28 pm (UTC)I didn't think Shae could cause that much grief. I was proven VERY wrong, I have to say. I love this series that way. You can never be sure of anyone.
I hated Sansa Stark in the first few season, but she has grown on me. Maybe it's the darkfic-fan in me, I don't know. But I do kinda like the interactions between her and Theon. And I am very curious on where they are going with that in season six.
Jon Snow was the surprise of the season. Someone has to die horribly each season, apparently. And I do believe The Nightswatch is going to hell now when neither Jon nor Sam is there to keep them sorta on the right and narrow. I do believe Jon is dead though, but I don't think he is gone for good. There's a very big chance they'll throw him over the wall. Right into the hands of the white walkers. That's what I am predicting. :-) It'll be fun to see who is right!
Talking off the people from the far north though, I am now worried about how that'll end with those they let through the wall. Especially Tormund Giantsbane since I rather came to like him.
Jamie is also one of those characters that I rather hated in the beginning of the season. But he has grown on me to. And I was a bit heartbroken after his scene with his daughter who actually knew.
Cersai can go all to hell though for all I care.
Arya and Brann though, that's going to be interesting to find out what's going on there...
And now I'll shut up. X-D I'll definitly going to pay up for HBO Nordic before the next season, because I HAVE to see this season as it airs or I'll go nuts not being able to discuss it. *LOL*

Date: 2016-04-18 04:39 pm (UTC)But Sansa's arc is too upsetting to me personally. That, and since most of my fave characters/mysteries/plot lines aren't in the show, and I don't want to be possibly spoiled for the next book, I am not even tempted to watch the new season. Hope you enjoy it though :-)

Date: 2016-04-20 08:13 am (UTC)Sansa's arc is very odd and disjointed to me. She did a lot of growing and was very adept in dealing with Joffrey in her own way. So it was just weird that tehy show trussed her together with somone even worse than Joffrey. I can understand why you stopped watching.
