12: Top 3 fictional animals/pets
The Shetland pony Plümmel in Ursula Brun’s The Snow Ponies. I was never into horses as a kid, but I loved this book about two sisters who grew up on a farm where Shetland and Icelandic ponies are bred. The dog Winnie in Margot Benary-Isbert’s The Wicked Enchantment. The enchanted and very sarcastic cat in The Conjuror's Box by Ann Lawrence.
13: Top 3 fictional locations
The enchanted place at the end of The House at Pooh’s Corner by A. A. Milne. Tolkien’s Rivendell. The castle and it’s gardens in Edith Nesbit's The Enchanted Castle.
14: Top 3 fictional gadgets/devices
Dorothy’s Red Ruby Slippers (though perhaps that is stretching it?) The TARDIS. The wands in Harry Potter.
15: Top 3 character backstories
Giles’ in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Vanessa’s in Penny Dreadful. The White Witch in the Narnia books.
16: Top 3 characters who die
Boromir in Lord of the Rings. Jenny Calendar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Wanda in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: A Game of You.
17: Top 3 non-human characters
The Bannus in Hexwood by Diana Wynne Jones. The self-aware computer Mike in The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein. Marvin, the perpetually depressed robot in Douglas Adam’s Hitchhiker's books.
18: Top 3 fictional worlds/universes
The World of Five Gods by Lois McMaster Bujold. C. S. Lewis Narnia. The multiple universes in Diana Wynne Jones’ Chrestomanci Chronicles.
19: Top 3 animated series
Goodness, I really had to reach back into my childhood for this. Cartoons were considered “bad” in Sweden in the seventies and the only time the were shown on TV was during the Christmas vacation, in the mornings. All these three comes from the fond memories of those mornings.
Bamse, the strongest bear in the world. Swedish cartoon (and comic) about a very kind little bear who gets very strong when he eats his grandmother’s special honey. He is best friends with a rather cowardly rabbit and a very wise turtle, who has the bad habit of falling asleep just when he is the most needed.
Mighty Mouse.
And Scooby Doo.
20: Top 3 live-action series
It varies, but at the moment, Versailles, Penny Dreadful and Doctor Who.
21: Top 3 animated movies
I’ve never been a huge fan, so let’s see… All Disney, I fear. Beauty and the Beast. Robin Hood- it’s isn’t a particularly good movie, but I retain a fondness for it because I loved Robin Hood with a passion as a child. Snow White.
22: Top 3 live-action movies
Persuasion with Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root. Moonstruck med Cher and Nicholas Cage. The Mozart Brothers. It’s a Swedish movie, directed by Suzanne Osten about a production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. We get to follow the trial of the director's idea, very much opposed by the more traditional singers and musicians. It’s both a very funny movie and quite heartbreaking at times. My favourite Swedish actor is in it, Phillip Zandén is in it too.
23: Top 3 books
This is really, really hard, but the books I return to again and again are; Dorothy L. Sayers Gaudy Night, Diana Wynne Jones Deep Secret and A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold.

I thought about the cathartic properties of a good cry.

Date: 2016-06-01 08:36 pm (UTC)The house at pooh corner. Great location choice! & I'd have to go with Dorothy 's slippers too. I'm a shoe fanatic & they'd fit well in my wardrobe. Lol.
