The last few days haven’t been fun. Let’s sum it up to one word and leave it at that; mucus. I’m still weak as a kitten and mostly do as little as possible and feeling bored to tears. And feel like the donkey in Shrek who constantly asks if they are there yet, because this spring I look forward to several shows more than I usually look forward to such stuff.
Doctor Who, of course. The hiatus has been way too long. And I was sad to hear Capaldi is leaving. He’s my favourite NewWho Doctor and I would have loved seen him a bit longer. I wonder who will see next. Personally I have had a hankering for Paterson Joseph as the Doctor, ever since I saw Neverwhere. I think you understand why if you watch this:
I’ve also seen Idris Elba being tossed around forever, which would work for me too. Either way I think it’s time for a Doctor who isn’t white, but I doubt we will see a female one. A new showrunner must balance new and innovative with not being too new so the fans don’t feel abandoned. I must confess, I’m not particularly keen on a female Doctor either, but I’m sure we will see one eventually and it certainly won’t stop me from enjoying the show when that day comes.
I wonder if we will see the end of Missy too. Most Masters has been paired up with only one Doctor, but not all, so it could go either way. I really like Missy and would like her a bit longer too, but I could see a big finale where she and the Doctor mutually destroy each other. If she goes, I would love to see a Master who is a bit less crazy again. But then Delgado!Master is my favourite Master, so I would.
I look forward to the new companions. Feeling undecided about Nardol as a character, but think it’s overdue for a companion who isn’t a young female. And we’ll get that too, in Bill, but the little we have seen of her so far, I have liked. It would be fun if she really is from the 1980’s.
Versailles have dropped teaser:
I’ve no idea what they are saying, unfortunately. It will air in France on March 20. Season 1 aired in Sweden pretty much at once, so I hope I will get too see it soon. What can be gleaned is Lousi having trouble (when doesn’t he?), Montespan gets pregnant, and what is it in that vial? Philippe looks unhappy despite having loads of pretty boys around him and Fabien is being violent. I thought it looked like he was looping off the head of Sohpe’s builder, Benoit, but it was hard to tell. No Claudine and no Sophie, I think.
And I really, really look forward to American Gods. I love the book and everything I have seen of casting, stills and trailer makes me very keen. Shadow actually looks exactly as I thought he would and Laura too. Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday does not, but then he is Ian McShane and I’m sure he will be great. I also like the casting of Peter Stormare as Czernobog, even is he doesn’t look like he does in the book either.

Date: 2017-02-13 09:10 pm (UTC)I don't know what I am going to do without Capaldi as the Doctor. He was my favorite NewWho doctor too. I'm still sad about it...
But NARDOL!
I agree we should get a POC doctor. Should be interesting!

Date: 2017-02-13 09:34 pm (UTC)Capaldi's run has been great for me and I'll be sad when he goes, but as I've never met a Doctor I didn't love, I'm looking forward to whatever's next.
I hope you feel better soon. :(

Date: 2017-02-14 05:06 pm (UTC)Honestly I'm not that keen on the idea of a female doctor myself, although I feel very much in the minority when I hear all the press discussion on how the next doctor simply must be played by a woman! I think it's a bit unfair personally to pile all of those expectations on a new showrunner to bring in such a big change right at the beginning of his era, although yes I'm sure that it will happen at some point. It does feel like it's time to bring in a non-white doctor for the next casting though definitely
