I love perfume. I’m very fond of the perfume oils from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab for several reasons; they smell great, for once, I also enjoy the names and descriptions, and, most importantly, a co-worker who is scent sensitive have no ill effects from me using their perfumes- she even likes them.* They last forever too, so I haven’t bought anything from them for years, but now I’m running low on a favourite. But now I need to replace a favourite, and noticed the perfumes cost the same as when I ordered last. All well and good until I came to calculating shipping. Shipping costs from USA got raised a couple of years ago, so I rarely order anything from the States anymore, but I got a bit of a shock when I realised the perfume bottle I want to buy is $17.50, but the shipping cost is $34. I refuse to pay shipping which is double the value of what I want. So no more perfumes from BPAL in the foreseeable future, and I will have to hoard what precious little I still have of Perversions *sulks*

* The drawback is that they have tons and tons of scents, so it’s easy to get dizzy on their website.

Oh wow, that is a lot of postage! I hope they start up a European website for you.

Yes! Just for me, only meeee! :D But really, they must lose customers overseas this way, so I don't Think it's something they do on purpose. In Sweden you also have to extra tax on items from USA, if the sum is over $30. Which means the postage alone is enough for extra taxes...

Transatlantic postage, yes. When we send gifts to my in-laws in the UK, we routinely expect the postage to be as much as the item -- though not twice as much, as in your case. I push ordering for them from Amazon.co.uk so that we can spend on the gift, not the postage. M usually agrees but feels it's a little . . . cold?

Yes, unfortunately, the USPS raised international postage fees a lot, which is unfortunate. Makes it quite pricey to send anything out of the country. For that matter, they raised domestic postage too, so sending a large package back east (although within the USA) is also expensive. sigh.

Perhaps you'll be able to find the perfume you want from another source?

I probably can. :) But it's hard small US-based shops on Etsy and similar. i have a friend who lost about half of her customers when the postage Went up.
