Country meme, questions 6-10
Feb. 13th, 2018 03:37 pmThe face paralysis is almost gone and my stomach has stopped hurting, so it seems the antibiotics are helping. But I’m running a temperature and have a sore throat since Sunday, so I spend most of my time sleeping, right now.

6. Most hated song in your native language?
This one. It was on repeat the whole summer I was twenty, and it’s stupid and insipid, and a complete earworm.
7. Three words from your native language that you like the most?
I’ve never thought about that. Can’t say it’s the words I like most, but I do like the words “skymning” (dusk), “hav” (sea) and “vår” (spring).
8. Do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?
Yes. A lot of people seem to think being Scandinavian means there is no difference between Sweden, Norway and Denmark. And most of those I have met who thinks so, have been from USA.
9. Which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?
I’ve visited all of them, Norway, Finland and Denmark, including the Åland Islands, the Faroe Islands and Bornholm, which are parts of Finland and Denmark. I’ve also visited Latvia and Estonia. Of them all I’ve visited Denmark the most, though I like all of them a lot. The most beautiful places were the Faroe Islands and northern Norway.
10. Most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
On the very, very rare occasion I use swear words. No, really, I almost never do, it’s usually “helvets jävlar”, which translates to “all hell’s devils”.

Well, another flister was posting recently about a US college tutor who failed a student for claiming that Australia was a country, so... (And clearly there is no difference! You are all northern and probably all blond and make catchy records including the one in this post which I will carefully avoid clicking. ;-p)

Date: 2018-02-13 09:24 pm (UTC)Swears need to be punchy to work, so it's important to hear them pronounced. Popular Brit swears have a kk which is great to hack out when you're hacked off. (c*nt, f*ck, w*nk, c*ck) but also tt (twat, tit, git.) They're also pretty monosyllabic.
I wondered if Swedish had a similar popular sound for swears. Hevlet jävlar seems more melodic!
