Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback.

If you've already left feedback in the course of a previous challenge, it totally counts. But you're free to leave more feedback.

Afterwards, leave a comment in this post with the equivalent of "I did it!" If you feel so inclined, leave a link to the fanwork you left feedback for so others can check it out.

Having very little computer time today, I read and reviewed a short fic; Pulling Out A Rabbit by DragonsPhoenix. It was very enjoyable Buffy-fic, Giles and Anya alone together in the shop during Tabula Rasa.

And why should you review? Well, just a little personal statistics. On 73 fics posted on AO3 I have got 63 reviews, which doesn't even average one review per fic. My most popular fic with way more hits and kudos than any other, only have one review. It’s better on Teaspoon where I have 29 stored and have received 50 reviews. My most read fic only have one review there too. Teaspoon also list the number of reviews given, and I have reviewed fics 94 times, which is nearly the double amount of reviews I have received.. Of course, I also have received plenty of reviews on Livejournal.

I’m fairly confident in my writing and I the reviews I get are more often than not very positive. So even if I’m not the best writer in the world, I can still produce fics people enjoy. And that, I think, is telling for other writers as well. There are plenty of fic writers who write well-written stories, who can receive a lot of hits, but who get very few reviews. I left last years Snowflake Challenge with a determination to leave feedback on everything I read. I have slipped at times, I know, when I have been tired and meant to get back, or when the computer has crashed, but I would say I have given feedback on at least 98% of what I have read. It’s make me read fics slower and my to-read list grows even longer, but I also know that a lot of people got a little nice thrill from a bit positive feedback and that makes it worth it. This year I will aim to 100%.

So review, folks! It doesn’t have to be an essay, if you like d a story, you can just say ; “I enjoyed reading this. Thank you.” Because someone has put in a lot of effort to, for no charge at all, give you a few minutes of enjoyment.

As for answering comments and read posts- I’ll be back for that Tomorrow.

It's nice to get a comment, but I also like AO3's kudos system and wish the other fanfic sites had it. Kudos is handy when I can't think of anything to say. Sometimes it's because I can't think of anything to say other than "It wuz gud" at other times it's because it becomes just too mentally difficult for me to articulate myself and if I do I know grammar has escaped me in making the effort to write an actual sentence, and it's too exhausting to reach it.

I did make an effort when I was feeling words had swum away from me for a fic that deserved an comment because it wasn't a fluffy fic and felt it needed more acknowledgement than a kudos. It deserved better than a typed "very good", but my brain didn't want to help.

I totally agree on reviewing, and I try to review everything I read, even if it's just to say "I LOVE IT." It's so meaningful for a writer.

Yes. It makes me happy when I get a review, and it's a very nice feeling knowing you have made someone's day. :)

*nods* I mean, there are plenty of reasons why people can't review sometimes (lack of spoons hits us all, some of us for what may even be a lifetime) but it really is so important to do if you can. It makes all the difference, really, just talking to one another!

I'm with you there! Taking a minute to Review isn't hard to find the time for. But finding the time to read the fic in the first place...
