20. Favorite cover.

This answer evolved and got way beyond favourite cover.

Bland tomtar och troll (Among Gnomes and Trolls) is an annual fairy tale collection which has been published in Sweden since 1907. As a child, I was not very interested in the new collections, but I loved those from my parent’s childhood, as well as a re-issue as the first one. It was my introduction to three artists which I love to this very day.

John Bauer, the first to illustrate the collection. His landscapes are very Swedish, and his trolls and princesses are iconic here. (I was delighted to spot one of his illustrations on the wall of Sabrina’s room in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina)













Gustaf Tenggren, who became chief illustrator for Disney and worked with several of his classics, like Snow White and Pinocchio.





Einar Norelius whose trolls and giants looked like they were living wood or stone. As a child, it both fascinated me and creeped me out.

I've always posted my pics on LJ and used the links here. Now that has evidently stopped working...

Oh, I really love that first artist. It's a perfect style for fairy tales.

Indeed! I once saw an exhibition of his art and they had made the whole exhibition area into birch wood, with real stems, and the paintings hanging between them. It was completely magical.

Btw, I'm logged out of LJ at the moment, and all I'm seeing of your images since is a big white rectangle that says "18+ Livejournal". Which I suspects means you maybe need to alter some settings so that it's visible to non-LJ users. (Or find somewhere else to host if it's LJ, but given the 18+ thing, I suspect it must be a setting you need to alter.)

It seems LJ has changed something so you can's see their photos on Dreamwidth anymore unless you are logged into LJ at the same time. Oh well, I guess I can iúnderstand why, even if it's a bit annoying.

Oh, dear! LJ up tp its tricks again - maybe you can just use Dreamwidth for those kind of things, or imgur or something that should be okay. :-/
