32. Summarize a random fic of yours in 10 words or less.

The Master almost accidentally saves a little girl. (Doctor Who; Little Miss Sunbeam)

33. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

Not that I wish, particularly. But I really enjoy doing research, so I typically spend quite a large amount on time checking things up. I also don’t write in a linear fashion. I go back and forth, writing scenes here and there. If I get stuck I move on to another bit. Most often I write on two fics at the same time, going back and forth, until I reach a point I feel one fic is starting to knit together, and then I focus on that one. My fics are almost never beta-read. I would love to have a beta, but I feel very self-conscious and presumptuous asking for one. I do run all my fics through an editing program and try to spot as many mistakes as possible before posting.

All the questions.

I know the feeling about betas! Initially I had people from a mailinglist I was posting to that volunteered when I asked and then I had an online friend from lj/dw who offered, but that was in a time when we both would drop the ball on things and I'd always hoped I'd find a go-to beta and it never worked out. On the other hand, I always tended to be too much in a rush to post (either because I was too excited about it or because I was meeting a deadline) and I just never got into the habit of having one. But maybe I'm also still trying to figure out what kind of beta I want. Just grammar/spelling or also a bit of pointing out potential plot holes or canon inaccuracies (I mean, there's an intended deviation and then there's the unwanted ones)

As to research, I really need to do more general research on topics. However, while editing, reading a story again (to remind myself where I was at) or even typing up handwritten ones, I might suddenly go "Is this random fact correct - I should check" and then I'm off to learn all kinds of random facts that aren't really relevant to my story but just too interesting not to pursue.

You are so awesome! I know two or three people that would give their eyeteeth to beta for you. Heck, I'd offer to do it myself if I didn't suck as a beta, lol!
