What I have been watching

I may give up on OUAT. The show has always had episodes which are a bit of an on/off with characters who are just around for that one episode. But somehow they used to feel more grounded, like they had a life apart from their brief stint in the show. Now they just feel thrown in for effect and though enhance someone else’s storyline. I thought the last episode was quite horrible and so saccharine I swear my teeth was aching. The plot was just plain strange- why of why is Henry suddenly feeling Hook in intruding when he has been nothing but supporting until now. And baby brother Liam was just a big case of what?
Also, I get the feeling the writer has given up on researching the character whatsoever. I’m not averse to changing characters, but again, for their own reasons, not to fit someone else’s plotline. Both the Count of Monte Christo and now Captain Nemo has been so completely out of characters it has been ridiculous. The calculating, cool and brilliant Monte Christo made into an unwilling hitman. Nemo, whose were drive in his book, is his thirst for revenge, making a complete turnaround? To me it feels like the writers had read the Wikipedia synopsis of each book and not spent a second thinking of character motivation.
Also, still not hot on all the Evil Queen thing and don’t like her hitting on Mr. Gold. Even if Lana Parilla clearly has enormously fun and is fun to watch.
I did like a few things. The rescue mission to free Benjamin Cricket and baby Robin clearly being upset about it. Belle NOT barking in on Rumple and Evil Queen, but just pushing in the picture under the door. Kudos for including Rumple as father, while still staying away from him. I also like both Aladdin and Jasmine.
So I’m not ready to give up the show just yet, but I may do so in the future. I’m still waiting for Cruella and Spike- I mean Mordred. And I’ve really liked Oded Fehr’s Jafar, the little we have seen on him. And I’ve seen some pretty bad things just to watch Oded Fehr. Like Deuce Bigalow which was truly horrid, even if one gets to see Oded Fehr naked.
And speaking of Oded Fehr, we are a little more than halfway through season 6 of Charmed and I really like him as evil demon. I find it interesting with a Big Bad who actually tries to understand his Kk and also acknowledge his difficulties in doing so. (Evil, has no soul- doesn’t understand love and how it acts as motivation.)
I’ve enjoyed the first three episodes of Supernatural. I like the new Lucifer, even if it took me a while to realise it was Rick Springfield. I loved Crowley and Destiel going on a Lucifer-hunting trip together and I loved how Rowena managed to (temporarily) banish Lucifer and promise to be around when he shows up again. Only now I fear we will see none of them until the end of the season, now. I fear the same thing for Mary, actually. I really like her and I understand why she would use some time alone, but I’ll miss her. Sam’s face when he realised Dean actually resembles his idolized Mum was priceless.
So I guess we will have a lot of Men of Letters now. I was rather annoyed with the posh lady and her starting with shooting Sam and torturing him. You know, if she had done her research she would probably just had to come in, look nice and tell them about the British Men of Letters and they would have turned inside out in delight over finding they aren’t extinct. Sheech!
The Blacklist is enjoyable as usual, but I strongly suspect Red must die by the end of the show. I wasn’t sure until he shot Kate. And I wouldn’t be completely surprised if it will be Dembe who kills him- more out of love than anything else.
I’ve re-watched The Man in the High Castle during last week and now I mope because season 2 won’t air until late December.it's a rather bleak story-how could it not, but so well acted. Rufus Sewell is nothing short of brilliant, if terrifying. I also find the world-building very impressive.
