I probably spend far too much time thinking of what motivates characters and why they react the way they do. This is something I do when I write as well and it’s important to me that my characters react in a logical or plausible way. I once got a review which said that the reader could tell I spent time with my character’s motivations and that made me very happy.

Being on a Doctor Who trip as I am, you will have to stand me burbling away. I never had anyone to talk Doctor Who with before! I started watching old Who a couple of years before New Who started, though I didn’t see every episode then. I am currently re-watching Old Who and now I will watch every episode. I have just started with the Sixth Doctor. But I feel the need to discuss some of the previous ones. It’s been a little too long since I saw One and Two, so they will have to wait- I jump in one Three. I liked DW from the start, but it was with Jon Pertwee that it really came to be a show I loved, so it seems fitting.

I have been thinking a lot about Nyssa lately. I started out writing Sweet Nyssa more for the smut, but it is growing more serious, I find and it has also spilled over to two more fics that tackles Nyssa in another ways. She is one of my favourite companions, I Always like the brainy ones, and also one that is seriously underused. I was delighted with her character in The Keeper of Traken, Logopolis and Castrovalva, but then her storyline was basically destroyed.

I have the flu and what better use of me laying in bed than write a bit about Doctor Who? I plunged heads on into fandom in the past few months, but I’m not a new fan. Nevertheless, after starting writing fanfic about it, I have thought a lot more about the show than before and I feel the need to write it down.

I never saw Doctor Who as I grew up, something I am quite annoyed with. I’m a child of the 70’s and just about every British series was aired in Sweden in the 70’s and 80’s and I watched Monthy Pyton, Black Adder, The Young Ones and Red Dwarf, but never DW. So when I started watching the show around 2003 I had not real idea of what to expect. Tom Baker was for me Puddleglum in Narnia, not the Doctor. I started the 1970 season, the year when DW became a show in colour, which means the Third Doctor was my very first one. I had seen most of old Who when it started again in 2005 and I began watching the new series. I’m currently re-watching new Who with my husband, who has never seen it before and we have just begun season 4. I’m also re-watching old Who, starting from the beginning and currently on season 21 with the Fifth Doctor.
