So, I watched Face of the Raven last night.

Eeep! Well, I had already come to the conclusion that Clara would die, because there had been so many hints about it, and then I got accidently spoiled on Facebook too, to my great annoyance.

Clara was never my favourite companion, though I certainly liked her. However, I always felt she originated as a plot ploy rather than a character and then it got a bit scrambled when she was supposed to be a person too. I often felt the writer’s wrote her in a way that suited that particular episode, which made her a bit all over and not always reacting in a way that felt consistent. Not Clara’s fault, she was just written that way.

I did feel she departed in a suitable manner. She saved the Doctor on Trenzalore, not expecting to survive, so even if she didn’t knew she couldn’t be saved from the raven, she knew there was a risk in doing so and she did it anyway to save her friend. And I think she had walked around with a death wish since Danny died. Also, even if it wasn’t mentioned, she did have contact with Danny after he died, so one can guess she felt fairly certain she would meet him again. Speaking of him I am a little annoyed that the whole plotline with Clara meeting her and Danny’s descendant is moot know.

I have always liked the chemistry between Capaldi and Coleman and I liked it here too. It really came through how much the Doctor and Clara loves each other and how well she understands him. And now the Doctor is alone, grieving and- angry. Not a good combination for him and I can’t wait finding out more.

Ashildr, however old she is now, doesn’t seem to be able to learn to grasp a few things. The Doctor cares about her, if she had just sent him a message saying “Help”, he would have come for her. No need for this plot with involved despair and grief for so many people, no matter if it was just temporary. Overly complicated and unnecessary cruel. I wonder if it will be addressed that in saving, or damning, Ashildr to eternal life, the Doctor has a hand in Clara’s death himself. Or Clara herself, for the matter, who was the one who asked him doing it.

And where is the Doctor going? My guess is Gallifrey. Even if they are his people, the Time Lords aren’t especially nice people and I can imagine they could do something like this to summon him. It could be Missy too, of course. Either way, I’m sure Gallifrey will pop up now.
